Procedure for applications in the THWS CampusPortal

You discovered your desired degree programme(s) at THWS? In this case, we are looking forward to your application(s)!

Please read about the steps of the application process in our THWS CampusPortal: If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via our  contact form.

Step 1: Registration via the THWS CampusPortal

Please register with your current valid e-mail address. We will send all information regarding your application as well as changes in your application status to this e-mail address. Please only register once, even if you plan to apply for several degree programmes!

Please note: If you plan to apply for bachelor's programme with restricted admission, make sure to apply at Hochschulstart first!

Step 2: Submission of application data/documents and digital submission of the application

During the application process, you will be asked for many details and documents required for your application. After completing your application, you will will see an overview of the data. After you have checked the data and confirmed the correctness, you can submit your application digitally using the function “Submit application”. A written application is not necessary.

If you would like to apply for more than one degree programme, lease submit the first application. Afterwards you can add another application by clicking the button “Add application”.


 

 

Step 4: Late submission of documents

If, after you have submitted your application, information/documents relevant for admission are missing, your application will have the status “preliminarily excluded (missing documents)”. You can add missing documents anytime by the end of the period specified for it by withdrawing your application request, uploading all relevant documents, and submitting the application again.

Step 3: Application processing

Once submitted, we will process your application. We will inform you via e-mail about changes of the processing status.

Please be patient! During the application period we receive very many applications. Any communication about your personal application is done via your e-mail address, also, for example, if we request missing documents. Please make sure to check the inbox of your e-mail account regularly in order to be able to answer our e-mails as soon as possible.

Step 5: Accepting the place at THWS

Special characteristics for NC programmes outside of hochschulstart.de (generally NC master’s) and degree programmes with aptitude tests (bachelor’s programme Architecture and bachelor’s Communication Design):
Before you can be granted admission (with notice of admission), you must accept the offer with the status "Offer of admission available" through clicking "Accept offer".



If you are admitted, you can download the notice of admission in the THWS CampusPortal. This letter will not be sent by e-mail or post.
If you want to accept this place within the enrolment period (cut-off period) (button: “Apply for enrolment”), you must take the following steps:

1. Online enrolment

You will be guided through the online application for enrolment step by step. Check and/or add the required information.

Please also provide information on your health insurance. More Information about health insurance is provided on the website of our International Office (HSIN). Please note that you do no longer have to submit a health insurance confirmation to THWS. We will now receive the confirmation automatically from your health insurance.

You will also be asked to upload a passport photo. This photo is used to create your personal THWS-Card and will thus be your constant companion during your studies here.

After submitting this data, please click the button “Complete and proceed to document upload” to confirm the required declarations in order to request enrolment for the indicated place at THWS. You do not need to accept the place in writing.

Submission of missing documents
After applying for enrolment, you have the opportunity to upload missing documents required for enrolment in the selected degree programme.

2. Transferring the semester fee
After you have accepted the place at THWS and have submitted the required data/declarations, you will receive the payment information in the THWS CampusPortal. Please transfer the given amount as soon as possible to THWS.
Please make sure to use the stated reference so that we can allocate received payments correctly. Payments are allocated shortly before semester start.

Please note: If you are admitted to several programmes, you can only accept the place in one degree programme. You will have to make a decision!

Step 6: Enrolling for your degree programme

Once we have received all data and documents required for enrolment (see Step 5) and after the semester fee payment has been allocated, your application status will change to "Enrolled". 

You will be provided with your IT access data within 48 hours in the THWS CampusPortal in the so-called account letter.  From this point in time, you can use the IT infrastructure of THWS.

To retrieve the account letter, please log in to the THWS CampusPortal using the access data of your application. The account letter for your student account is available for download at “My studies -> Student service -> Certificates”.

If you saved a German address in the online application portal we will now also send your THWS Card by mail. If not, you can pick up your THWS Card from the Department of Student Affairs (HSST) during their opening hours.

Please note:

  • Keep the address used for application up to date at any time, in particular if you change your address at the start of your studies. You can update your address at any time in the THWS CampusPortal.
  • The THWS Card we send is not yet valid. It must be validated at one of our validation machines. Please refer to the corresponding page regarding the THWS Card for more information.

Application phase

Status Comment
In preparation Your application has the status “In preparation”. Please note that DRAFT applications will not be considered. If you want to apply for this degree programme, please confirm by clicking on “Submit application”.
Received We have received your application. Please make sure to provide required documents, especially your higher education entrance certificate and, if applicable, your bachelor’s certificate, by making them available via document upload.
Valid “Valid” applications have been reviewed and are “correct”. They will be included in the further allocation procedure.
Preliminarily excluded Your application has been preliminarily excluded. For further information regarding missing documents or the like, please refer to the status comment. Please remember to re-submit the application for enrolment within the deadline!
If, on the closing date for applications, your application still has the “preliminarily excluded”-status, it cannot be considered for selection processes (NC, aptitude test).
Withdrawn You have withdrawn your application, because you are no longer interested in this degree programme. Please note that applications with the status “withdrawn” will not be considered. If you want to re-apply, please confirm by clicking on “Submit application”.
