THWS opens the first alumni board in India
The recent THWS trip to India marked another important milestone: the start of the international THWS alumni community. President Professor Dr. Jean Meyer and Tina Müller of the team Alumni THWS during the ceremonial opening of the first "THWS international alumni board: INDIA" at RV College of Engineering in Bengaluru, India.
"Our alumni boards serve to create places for creative exchange with our alumni and build bridges for knowledge, networking, and friendships," THWS President Meyer describes the project. "The growing Indian alumni community is of particular importance. A major share of our international students is from India – thanks to the valuable partnerships with Christ University and RV College of Engineering." India plays an important role in the increasing internationalisation of THWS – about one third of THWS' international students are from India.
The new voluntary alumni board is self-organised and cooperates closely with the THWS alumni network in Würzburg. In Bengaluru, the alumnus Gaurav Veershetty will act as high ambassador and head of the alumni board, and will support the development of the network. He will act as a central contact person for THWS alumni in India.
Worldwide alumni network in the making
The alumni board in India is only the starting point for THWS' worldwide alumni activities. "We want to create places around the world where our alumni can share ideas and inspire creative thinking processes – which then impact their professional and personal network and THWS," says alumni coordinator Tina Müller. This would not only benefit individual networks but also international cooperations in research, economy, and mentoring. The network also offers strategic contact points for current and future students and thus supports young talents.
For 2025, an "India Day" is planned at THWS to which the newly founded Indian alumni board will contribute as well.
