New Vice President for Research: Professor Dr. Jean Meyer
Effective 6 December 2023, the university council of the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS) elected Professor Dr. Jean Meyer Vice President for Research, Transfer of Knowledge and Technologies. His term of office ends on 14 March 2024 as Professor Meyer’s term of office as new president of THWS starts on 15 March 2024.
As vice president for research, Professor Dr. Meyer is responsible for all areas of applied research at THWS. These include the Campus for Applied Research, seven research institutes, five technology transfer centers as well as the Schweinfurt-based Center for Robotics and the Würzburg-based Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.
The person: Professor Dr. Jean Meyer
Professor Dr. Jean Meyer studied Aerospace Engineering at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich and obtained the degree “Master of Business Administration and Engineering” from Munich University of Applied Sciences. He worked as system engineer for aerospace and as research associate for various institutions of the Federal Armed Forces. He completed his doctorate in the field of non-destructive materials testing. In 2017 he was appointed at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at FHWS, now THWS, and has acted as deputy dean since 2019. Furthermore, Professor Dr. Meyer is head of the degree programme Robotics. In November 2023, he was elected the future THWS president. To the press release on the presidential election
