  • ten personalities from the fields of science, culture and particularly economics and from the professional practice (non-THWS members)

Tasks of the university council

(Art. 36 (5) Bayerisches Hochschulinnovationsgesetz (Bavarian Higher Education Innovation Act))

The university council

  1. adopts the statutes of THWS and any amendments thereof and requests in accordance with Art. 126 (1),
  2. elects the president and decides upon their dismissal,
  3. elects the other members of the university board of management, excluding the chancellor, and decides upon their dismissal,
  4. issues recommendations for the appointment as chancellor from the suitable persons nominated by the university management,
  5. decides upon proposals to structure THWS into faculties on the request of the extended university management,
  6. takes decisions regarding the establishment, modification, and discontinuation of degree programmes,
  7. gives its opinion on the establishment, modification, or discontinuation of units, academic and artistic institutions by the university management,
  8. comments on state budget estimates,
  9. receives the statement of accounts from the president and can debate it,
  10. adopts the public corporations’ budget or the business plan,
  11. performs other tasks if provided for by law.
