For me, FHWS is ...
multi-faceted – proactive – valuable – important
What do you appreciate about FHWS?
FHWS is a dynamic, family-friendly employer with flat hierarchies, continuous personal development and interdisciplinary collaboration. It constitutes an important locational factor for regional development through high quality university education with a strong practical orientation for society and the economy.
What was the best decision in your professional career and why? What has changed since then?
The best decision was getting my subject-specific higher education entrance qualification at higher vocational school after successfully completing my secondary education qualification and getting some initial work experience, and studying Business Administration at FHWS. This then opened up opportunities for me to take on professional activities and tasks with more responsibility and also to gain experiences which have enriched my life.
What do you think has shaped FHWS the most over the last 50 years?
Since I have been part of the FHWS family, the “internationalisation” of FHWS as well as the introduction of forward-looking degree programmes such as the Bachelor Robotik / Robotics and had a significant impact on the attractiveness of the higher education institution. Today, FHWS excels not only in teaching but also in research and therefore has great potential for innovative interdisciplinary projects in research and teaching.
What is your vision of the future for FHWS? What might FHWS look like in 50 years’ time?
In my opinion, that depends on the advance of digitalisation, technology and politics in everyday life and working life. FHWS will play an essential role as a place of science and innovation and will therefore be an essential driver for regional development in particular.
What is your insider tip for the cities of Würzburg or Schweinfurt and why?
My insider tip for the Schweinfurt local area is the enormous Bocksbeutel (type of wine bottle) which you walk through in Eselsberg in Stammheim. Here, you can not only see the symbol of Franconian wine in a different way, but perhaps also enjoy the view of the Main valley with a glass of Franconian wine.
