Interdisciplinary Exchange: Dr.-Ing. Marek Kraft of Poznań University of Technology Visited CAIRO and CERI
At an invitation from the head of the TWHS Center for Artificial Intelligence (CAIRO) Prof. Dr. Magda Gregorova in a bid to foster international cooperation,, Dr.-Ing. Marek Kraft, from the Computer Vision Lab of the Poznań University of Technology (PUT), visited the THWS from April 15th to April 19th 2024.
Kraft, who is known for his expertise in employing computer vision and machine learning algorithms and techniques to a wide range of application areas using a variety of vision sensors and hardware platforms, had productive meetings with researchers from CAIRO and CERI. These talks led to fruitful discussions about possible research collaborations and research staff exchanges at both PhD and professor levels. Notably, PUT's strategic partnership with THWS, established during previous visits, provided a solid foundation for this endeavour.
During his stay in Würzburg, Kraft engaged in in-depth conversations with CAIRO staff members about shared research interests and opportunities for future collaboration. His insights into machine vision systems offered a great perspective on AI applications, enriching the discussions and broadening the scope of potential joint projects.
In line with the collaboration strategy of CAIRO, Gregorová and Kraft also together visited the sister Center for Robotics in Schweinfurt, to explore opportunities for broader collaboration across the related fields.
Looking ahead, follow-up visits and joint research projects between PUT, CAIRO, and CERI are planned. With Kraft's expertise in computer vision complementing CAIRO's focus on AI and CERI's emphasis on Robotics, the partnership holds great promise for innovation.
