Directions
From Würzburg main station, please take tram line 1 or tram line 4 “Sanderau”, tram line 3 “Heidingsfeld” or tram line 5 “Rottenbauer” and get off at stop Sanderring. Cross the tram tracks, keep right and turn left into Sanderring. At the next crossing, turn left into Münzstraße. The building is on the left side of the street. Barrier-free access is only possible via the entrance in Münzstraße 12. To go there, turn left into Münzstraße at the next crossing. The building is on the left side of the street.

Parking
You can use parking as described for Münzstraße 12 when visiting Sanderring 8a.
Road surface and flooring
Tram and bus station “Sanderring” are equipped with a tactile guidance system (floor marking). Floor marking also leads from the pavement to the entrance of Münzstraße 12. Footpaths are paved and there is a small forecourt to the entrance of Münzstraße 12. Barrier-free access to Sanderring 8a is only possible by using the entrance of Münzstraße 12. There is different flooring used in the entrance area and in hallways. The flooring of hallways in Sanderring 12 consists of polished stone tiles. The steps are protected against slipping by steel edges, but do not have any marking or additional tactile features.
Access to the building
The main entrance is on Sanderring and not barrier-free. You have to climb several steps and open a non-automatic fire door. Barrier-free access is possible by using the entrance to Münzstraße 12. If stairs cannot be used, access to all rooms in Sanderring 8a is only possible via Münzstraße 12. Levels -1, 0, 1, 2 can be accessed via Münzstraße 12; you may use the lift in the passage area between both buildings as there is no lift in Sanderring 8a. Since the two buildings are slightly offset in height, a slight slope has to be overcome. It is a downward slope towards Sanderring 8a. Level 3 of Sanderring 8a is accessible via the terrace on Level 3 of Münzstraße 12. Entrance to the terrace is located in the rear left of Level 3 and is equipped with a ramp. If you keep right on the terrace, another ramp will lead you to the entrance of Level 3 of Sanderring 8a.
Staircases
There are two staircases. The staircase close to the main entrance leads to Level -1, 0, 1, 2, and 3. The staircase in the passage area towards Münzstraße 12 leads to the Levels -1, 0, 1, 2. In addition, there are staircases in Münzstraße 12. Due to the offset in height between Münzstraße 12 and Sanderring 8a, the hallways are sloping downwards towards Sanderring 8a. There are handrails available. Another height difference has to be overcame in the back part of the building. There are ramps, but handrails are not available for the full ramp length.
Lifts
You may use the same lifts as in Münzstraße 12. There is a lift in the passage area towards Münzstraße 12. With this lift, Levels U1, ZG, E, 1, and 2 are accessible; levels are also stated in Braille. The passage to the lift is 80 cm wide. Two more lifts are available to the right of the exit of Münzstraße 12, approximately 5 m away.
Guidance system
For orientation within THWS buildings in Würzburg, a consistent system of room numbers is used. Numbers start with a letter designating the building. The following number designates the floor number or level. After that, the actual room number is given. Example: S.1.01 = Sanderring 8a. Level 1. Room 1. Room designation in THWS buildings in Schweinfurt differs from that, because there numbers are used to designate buildings.
Building plans
At all important locations, escape and rescue plans are positioned at 120cm height. They make an overview of parts of the building possible.
Room marking
In Sanderring 8a, room marking is standardised. Boards mounted on the wall state the room number and the room’s use.
Wheelchair-accessible toilets
In Sanderring 8a, there are no wheelchair-accessible toilets available. Toilets in Münzstraße 12 may be used.
Library
The Library is on Level 0. The library helpdesk is in the entrance area of the Library. Reading rooms and the collections are to the right and to the left of the library helpdesk. There are PCs and moveable chairs. Rooms on Level 0 can only be accessed via a heavy automatically closing fire door.
Rooms in the basement can only be accessed from within the Library and only via a narrow spiral staircase. Passage between the bookshelves is approx. 90 cm wide. Books are stored at a height of up to 220 cm. In the library area, obstacles in the form of book carts and steps are to be expected. The library is not air-conditioned. The staff at the Library Helpdesk is happy to help students, especially if they need to visit the basement of the library, the media library or the training room. There are special services for students with disabilities or chronic illnesses.
Fire doors
Each room has a heavy fire door. These have neither opening nor locking mechanisms.
