Research, Knowledge and Technology Transfer

The IEHT as partner in research

The technological capabilities of the IEHT and all laboratories involved, especially of the high-voltage lab, are available for publicly- or privately-funded research and development projects. The IEHT thus contributes significantly to the profile of THWS in the research focus "Energy Technology and Energy Efficiency".

IEHT has particular expertise in the fields of energy and thermal engineering as well as dielectric materials, insulation systems, condition diagnosis and damage analysis for electrical power supply equipment as well as the industrial application of energy and high-voltage technology. The use of artificial intelligence and modern signal analysis in the field of electrical power engineering is also being researched at IEHT.

Our research partners are technologically leading companies, higher education institutions, the German Research Association (DFG), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Industrial Research Associations (AiF) or the Fraunhofer Society.

Through their involvement in scientific panels (e.g. in VDE Working Groups, the ETG subject area ‘cross-sectional technologies Q2’: Materials – Insulating systems – Diagnostics, the Würzburg Research Association for Functional Materials “WFF”) and through many co-operations, a close network between science and the economy is knit.

Current research projects at the IEHT are listed under the “Power engineering” and “High-voltage engineering” categories.

The IEHT as service provider

The High- IEHT Technology Lab is also a cooperation partner for the regional and cross-regional industry, and provides its competence in the areas of applied research, as well as its technical equipment for the solution of service tasks. For questions regarding this topic, please contact the head of the institute directly.
