A - Elementary language use for beginners

  • A1 is the introduction to a new language
At the end of the course you can introduce yourself, ask simple questions and give answers. (Topics e.g. family, living etc.)

  • A2 gives you the basics of the language
At the end of the course you can communicate in routine situations. You can talk about your background, education, work, etc.

B - Independent language use for advanced learners

  • B1 is the transition to the intermediate level
At the end of the course you can talk about personal experiences, interests, hopes and goals. You can justify and explain in discussions.

  • B2 is the foundation for more complex content
At the end of the course you can understand complex and abstract texts. You can express yourself spontaneously and fluently on a wide range of topics and explain your point of view on current issues.
(B2 is a requirement for many German-language degree programmes at THWS).

C - Proficient use of language and subject-specific immersion

  • C1 leads to competent action in the foreign language
At the end of the course you will be able to express yourself fluently and with a wide vocabulary, in a structured and detailed way. You can use the language flexibly and competently in social and professional life.
(C1 is a requirement for a TWIN certificate from the THWS).

  • Special courses "German for the profession" at B2/C1 level
These specialised language courses are aimed specifically at THWS students. They deepen German skills at B2/C1 level and expand vocabulary in the respective fields of engineering, economics or social work.
