For me, FHWS is ...
my professional home!
What do you appreciate about FHWS?
The informal and harmonious environment
What was the best decision in your professional career and why? What has changed since then?
Doing a doctorate after my studies at FHWS was the best decision. That made it possible for me to become a professor, which was my second best decision.
I enjoy this job a great deal because you can bring your own personality to it and organise yourself, it also gives a certain amount of security and working with young people as well as people with experience makes a particularly refreshing change.
What do you think has shaped FHWS the most over the last 50 years?
Proximity to industry has always driven the offering and the development of degree programmes to meet needs. Globalisation has also resulted in an international focus.
What is your vision of the future for FHWS? What might FHWS look like in 50 years’ time?
The social distancing and digital learning which has been necessary as a result may prove to be formative for a strong focus on teaching through the use of digital media. Environmental and cost factors also play a role here, which may counteract the demand for mobility as well as the increased physical urbanisation of recent years.
The future of learning lies in digital learning, which may also mean a strong focus for teaching at FHWS. Digital learning will surely remain part of teaching at FHWS in the future.
What is your insider tip for the cities of Würzburg or Schweinfurt and why?
